Who doesn’t love a day at the beach? At Woodlands Manor Farm it’s fair to say that we are absolutely spoiled by choice when it comes to local beaches! With each one offering something a little different, you will definitely find the perfect beach to enjoy your chosen activity.

If you’re looking for a nice relaxing stay in a comfortable farm cottage or in search of the perfect spot for some glamping near the beach, Woodlands Manor Farm is the perfect location. Read on for our guide to each of the local beaches you can visit during your stay with us.

Duckpool

Duckpool Beach

Duckpool is the closest beach to our luxury holiday cottages and you can drive there in under 10 minutes. This remote beach enjoys some amazing surroundings, including many rock pools and the 100 metre high Steeple Point Cliff which is a truly imposing feature.

Unfortunately, Duckpool isn’t suitable for swimming and many parts may be too rocky for a comfortable seaside picnic, but the scenery is beautiful. If you fancy a coastal walk you can head south to nearby Sandymouth beach or travel north to visit Hawker’s Hut and enjoy the best cream tea and pastries around at the Rectory Farm Tearooms – so good it was featured on The Hairy Bikers Comfort Food on the BBC!

Sandymouth

This beach really comes alive when the tide is out. Sandymouth is popular with families and those just looking for a nice day out at the beach, as well as being a well-known surfing spot. With the fantastic Sandymouth beach cafe and public toilets available it has everything you’ll need if you want to spend the whole day there. Lifeguard cover during the summer months means you can swim safely. Whether you’re there to relax, watch the surfers or have a swim, make sure you don’t miss the stunning waterfall!

Northcott Mouth

Not a beach for deck chairs, picnic blankets and parasols but still definitely worth a visit. Northcott Mouth is a sandy cove with rugged charm, and as the tide goes out a sandy beach and rock pools are revealed. It’s the ideal spot for exploring and enjoying some truly beautiful surroundings. During low tide, keep your eyes peeled for the wreck of the SS Belem! No trip to Northcott Mouth is complete without visiting The Rustic Tea Garden for some delicious food and drinks while taking in the view.

Summerleaze

Summerleaze Beach

Just a few minutes walk from Bude town centre, Summerleaze is an incredible beach with a huge number of activities available. The beach itself is stunning and the backdrop of colourful beach huts is utterly delightful. From simply relaxing to surfing, kayaking and fishing, there is truly something for everyone at Summerleaze. One of the most popular attractions is the Bude Sea Pool located at the foot of the cliffs. This fascinating feature is completely free of charge, so there’s no reason not to get your swimsuit on and dive in! If you’re peckish there are plenty of options when it comes to food and drink. Life’s a Beach and The Barge are local favourites that you can’t go wrong with!

Crooklets

Crooklets Beach

Enjoy golden sand and rock pools as far as the eye can see at Crooklets. This picturesque beach is just a short walk from Summerleaze – you can actually walk directly from one to the other during low tide – and offers the perfect setting for catching some rays on those sunny summer days. Crooklets also enjoys a number of fantastic facilities nearby including play area, skate park, amusements and pubs. If you’re not a fan of sand, there is still plenty for you to do here. You won’t go hungry either, as Crooklets Beach Cafe and Rosie’s Kitchen both offer a delectable range of food and drinks – particularly the pizza at Rosie’s!

Widemouth Bay

Three miles south of Bude, Widemouth Bay is a large beach that is particularly popular with surfers. Whether you’re already a pro surfer or have never set foot on a board before, the conditions are suitable for surfers of all abilities. But a desire to hit the waves isn’t required to enjoy this beach. Take your blanket and windbreak or go exploring the rock pools, this gorgeous bay caters to all types of beachgoer. After working up an appetite you can visit Widemouth Bay Cafe or Beach House for a bite to eat. The Times listed Beach House as one of the top 20 beachside bars and restaurants in the UK, so it’s definitely not one to miss!

Crackington Haven

This shingle cove is a wonderful beach absolutely full of character. Located next to a towering cliffside, Crackington Haven delivers a sense of comfortable seclusion while still offering everything you need for a relaxing day at the beach. Whether you bring your surfboard or picnic basket you will have a fantastic time in these spectacular surroundings. For a quick snack or something more substantial Haven Cafe and The Coombe Barton Inn both have fantastic menus with a bit of something for everyone.
